Sony is dedicated to Indie Games AND Indie Filmmakers

  • The makers of Playstation is launching a new initiative called the “Playstation Emerging Filmmakers Program”.  This program allows writers and filmmakers to pitch ideas to Sony in hopes that their idea will be used to create a pilot episode and possible launch a new franchise for Sony viewers (Powers launched a couple years ago).  Anyone can submit ideas (can be submitted right now), and entries do not have to be any type of licensed product of Sony’s
    • Is this good for Sony to reach out for ideas from the public eye, versus hiring a qualified writer or filmmaker?
    • What is your stance on the fact that Sony is willing to step outside their four walls to source for ideas and possibly talent?
    • Sony will end entries on August 1st this year.  They will filter down to 10 concepts, and then Sony and film professionals with narrow those concepts down to five.  Those five will be chosed to become ideas for pilots, and possibly beyond
    • Do you see this idea succeeding, possibly become a yearly thing that Sony does?
    • If an idea or concept takes off and becomes a huge hit, will the person that submitted the idea be compensated with some form of contract, or do you think something different will happen?
    • Any final thoughts
